Two civil police officers dressed up as a priest and Chapolin Colorado arrested a suspect of stealing cell phones during a Carnival block last Sunday (23) in São Paulo, Brazil.
The two officers were dressed as a priest and Chapolin Colorado. The suspect was arrested in the Consolação neighborhood, in the central region of São Paulo.
The 34-year-old man was carrying over six cell phones in a bag, along with two wallets. Two of the devices were returned to the victims on-site. The suspect was taken to the 78th Police District in the Jardins neighborhood, where he remained in custody.
Amid a surge of cell phone thefts in the city, the strategy of dressing up and blending in with the revelers proved effective, according to the police, who arrested seven criminals and recovered 30 devices during the blocks last weekend.
